Mi amigo, el Fantasma. Parte VII. (My Friend, the Ghost. Part VII)

-Comprendo. Hable pues, joven, y no omita nada.

Have you ever had all eyes around set on you and you all with a big frown? Well that was exactly how I felt.

Don Diego did not let go my hand but even I knew he was scared to death. Mr. De Manrique was in no mood for jokes thus we both knew that we had to be very convincing and we better get lost in the night. So, deep breath and explain everything, but at that time only my friend knew why he had brought me to the chapel.

"Well? Are we going to explain this act of ...?"
"Thou worship will be satisfied when I told thy the facts so do not judge this situation, please. This brave girl comes willingly and is part of my family so I beg thee to not get carried away by anger. It is here to help us deal with our turist problem. "Ah, that explains it all! And the truth is I've been mulling over my whole life. I do not coincide with the point of view of Sir Manrique but one understands what it is to have herds of people in a place of peace.

"Very well. Proceed."

"Ms. García-Comendador here present for years has come to this place with my descendants and I have observed that she enjoys as little as we do the crowds of tourists who come in summer. So, Your Honor, I asked her thus to come to look for solutions to our business."
"I understand. Talk then, child and does not omit anything."

"Actually I'm just a girl but I hate having many people making noise at night and in the lake."
"Aha. What do you propose we do with our problem?"
"Well ..."

"We could scare them all and that´s that, by Saint George!" Proposed a medieval knight.
"No, then we´ll have thousands of journalists." Said an old lady with knitted hat.
"Please don´t scare Don Vittorio. He is good." I mused.
"What if we moved?" Involved a noble ghost.
"No way. I just put the cobwebs in my attic." Protested the ghost of the bar El Merendero del Rey.

"Then what?" again all looked at me.

El Señor del Último Sueño (Lord of the Last Dream)

Dedicado a mi abuela

Dedicated to my grandmother

Over the past few days was able to see them.

Hardly make out reality and fiction, but as it happened in her childhood, again distinguished inter the shadows of her mind. Dream silent step steaming horse that slid like a sigh from the recesses of the subconscious and it was always received as rain on dry ground against the burning mane and body in eternal combustion of Nightmare, which thundered with its hooves the darkest of nights.

Had only been able to see them during childhood and yet there they were again.

Maybe it was a sign of destiny.

Her happiness made her forget the long sheets, doctors, people talking about things she barely remembered now. Her two horses were all the company needed and the remedy for her pain. The hospital seemed too cold so riding the fire mained-horse was a good option after all from time to time.

But one night, they did not come either.

They are fleeting presences, she said, are whims of the wind.

Heavy hooves smashed of her reverie. Before her stood a large shire of vacant eyes and a strong presence. She knew instantly that it was the Grey Lady´s mount whose back we shall all ride on our journey to the place where dreams and nightmares live in everlasting rest. The horse did not fade into the shadows but they came obedient to him. A smile crossed the lips of the old woman.

Her breathing stopped, her heart abode and with a firm hand climbed the ridge to achieve her last fantasy.

Nagareboshi

Se me salta el corazón
con el viento de cara.
Brinco sobre la luna llena
y me elevo como un globo.

Las alas de un pájaro
perdida en en aire
mientras te despides veloz.

Sin un sitio de aterrizar
pero poco importa.

Estrella fugaz que soy
en mi soledad y aventura.
Soy rápida, un deseo.

Un guiño y una sonrisa.

My heart skips
with the wind on face.
Hop on the full moon
and rise like a balloon.

The wings of a bird
lost in air
while you say goodbye.

Without a landing place
but no matter.

I'm shooting star
in solitude and adventure.
I'm quick, a wish.

A wink and a smile.

Mi Amigo, el Fantasma. Parte VI (My friend, the Ghost. Part VI)

The Old House is situated next to a road that goes deep into the mountain, a journey that throughout my life I have done many times but that time was special.

The first part goes through a few groves up to the Nuns, a junction that on the right leads to the villages and to the left is lost in the woods, past the old chapel and ending at the sausage factory, only remaining an earth trail to La Honda hidden on top and between hills.

Don Diego knew well the route and with my hand in his, we flew over the road for a while until we got to the sanctuary that at that time was abandoned and had no roof. Sitting inside, ghosts of the whole valley. Coming from Ortigosa, Nieva, Pinillos and Torrecilla and of every period imaginable.

Leading them all was Mr. De Manrique whose expression could not be more serious.

Don Diego had told me that this was some sort of neighbors meeting, as they do over like the ones adults do from time to time. And the issues they often discuss were quite important: where to stay, the tourists, the topic of cemeteries and so on although what bothered them most was the large influx of people in summer. It was not oly that people no longer believed in ghosts but also spending eternity with such a fuss is to drive anyone crazy.

But before he could even speak, all eyes were fixed on me. And of course, were not friendly. I was there to accompany my new friend so he didn´t felt alone but we had not counted on the opinion of the rest of the ghosts and that could mean only one thing: Trouble

"Hush, little puppy, it's night again
Can you hear when the raven sings?
It sings of calm and peaceful sleep.

Mustn't be afraid, Let it guide you on
With shady wings it guides you on."

Mi Amigo, el Fantasma. Parte V (My friend, the Ghost. Part V)

-Ah, buenas noches, joven dama.
-No me suena.

Yes, I was not the only one who did not sleep that night of thunder and lightning. After the joke of Armando, I was sure that I wanted a chat with the ghost but things do not tend to happen as planned.

With such noise I could not sleep so I decided to climb stealthily into the room of my cousins Nacho, Carlos and Miguel at the top of the house. I was not too surprised to see that they were not inside, as the whole generation had gone together to the hostel. So I had leeway to lie down peacefully until their return. But before doing anything, I perceived that there was someone sitting in front of the slate fireplace.

It was THE GHOST HIMSELF! I could hardly believe it yet seeing his haggard expression I could not help feeling sorry for surely the treat below would have awakened him from his sleep.

"Good night" I said very politely.
"Ah, good evening, young lady. You can´t sleep either?"
"No, not really. Are you the ghost?"
"I am no vulgar and ordinary spirit. My name is Don Diego de Jalon."
"Not ringing any bells."
"Are you perhaps of this family?"
"Yes, my grandfather's name is Carlos and is down the stairs."
"Then, know that I am your ancestor and I was born in these lands, in Pradillo de Cameros, not far from here, and married Ms. Juana Martinez, from Palencia, being the father of five rods."
"Geez. So you are a gentleman."
"Thank you."
"And from what year are you?"
"From 1500 something. I can not remember, a lot of time four hundred years. But what is certain is that my family, and of course yours, has a crest in the honorable town of Puente del Rey."
"Where's that?"
"In Burgos. And since you are awake, my noble girl, I have a favour to ask you."

Zekice

Besos "in person".

Is from my own hand but it always surprises me. Best Wishes.

Is smoke, grain of rice or storm,
Innocent joke of a child.
Inhabitant of a green bottle
Full of places, lives and dreams.

You are a child of the ink, witty genie,
But not even black gold can do master
For your cunning and infinite joy
With which I live countless days on.

Margarita. ¡ENTRADA 200, YAY!! (Entry 200!!)

(A una guitarra)

Amiga de mis poemas,
corazón, rosa de música
que vive en un sueño azul
de estadios de amapolas.

Voz imposible
de los imposibles
que siempre es vencedora.

Tú, resquicio de estrella,
vencedora de la muerte,
trovadora celestial,
infinita escapada.
Tú, guitarra soñadora,
amparo de epopeyas.

Duende de pecho grande
y cuerdas de viento
que nunca olvida.

(For a guitar)

Friend of my poems,
Heart, rose of music
who lives in a blue dream
Bout the creed of flowers.

Impossible voice
Of the impossibles
Which is always victorious.

You, glimmer of a star
Conqueror of death,
Heavenly minstrel,
Endless escape.
You, dreamy guitar,
haven to all stories.

Duende of the big heart
And strings of wind
That never forgets.
